Scribeist is writing software designed for long-form projects, with three specialized workspaces for different writing needs. Novel workspace: character/places tracking, timelines, and world-building for novelists. Blog workspace: SEO tools, readability scores, blog generation and publishing for content creators. General workspace: distraction-free notes and everyday writing. Each includes document editing, organizational tools, and optional AI assistance specific to that writing style.
Scribeist's Blog Workspace includes built-in SEO formatting, readability analysis, site SEO board for crawling and internal link mapping, and one-click publishing to WordPress, Ghost, and HubSpot. Users can draft, optimize, and publish directly from the editor.
Scribeist's Canvas feature provides visual planning beyond linear documents, allowing users to connect themes, scenes, and research. Canvas nodes can be exported as PNG, and research can be consolidated and incorporated into blog posts or stories.
Scribeist's AI features index all user workspaces so the AI can answer questions about drafts and cite sources. Voice Match trains AI to write in the user's personal style. Users can connect their preferred AI provider (OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, etc.) or run local models, ensuring AI output matches their voice and knowledge base.
Scribeist's Novel Workspace includes Mythos, a dedicated tracking system for characters, locations, and lore that links directly to prose. Users can hover over character names to see full context, use timelines to map character arcs and pacing, and ask AI questions about plot holes and character relationships.
Scribeist provides separate workspace types (Novel, Blog, General) that can all exist within one account. Each workspace has its own tools and layout optimized for that writing type, but users can import/export between workspaces and maintain a unified writing home.
