Sceptrum

Offline-first dashboard with auto-sync on WiFi connection

Overview

What it is

Traditional Windows “privacy” tools were built for ads, cookies, and trackers. Sceptrum is built for the AI era — where powerful apps can read your files, watch your screen, and talk to LLMs in the background. On-device, always All analysis happens locally on your machine. We don’t collect, upload, or sell your activity data. Unified visibility Camera, microphone, file, network, and AI calls — all surfaced in one signal feed you can actually understand.

Intent

I need it when

Monitor and control what applications access on a Windows device without sending data to the cloud

Sceptrum provides unified visibility of camera, microphone, file, and network access in a single readable feed, with all analysis and policy evaluation running locally on-device. Users can set granular permissions and block app access without any telemetry leaving their machine.

Detect suspicious file activity and prevent ransomware-like behavior before it spreads

Sceptrum includes heuristic detection for rapid file modifications (e.g., encryptor patterns) and can pause processes before harm spreads, providing an early warning layer alongside Windows Defender for ransomware protection.

Detect and control when applications send data to AI services and LLM APIs

Sceptrum's AI-aware detection identifies when apps call out to LLM APIs and other model backends, labels each AI endpoint, and lets users set precise rules to limit, block, or allow specific AI traffic—all evaluated locally without cloud involvement.

Maintain productivity and data safety when internet connectivity is unstable or unavailable

Sceptrum's offline capabilities let users continue working normally when the network drops; all changes are encrypted locally and queued for sync. When connectivity returns, the app automatically syncs pending edits, notes, and task updates in the background without interruption.

Understand system activity with minimal performance overhead on resource-constrained machines

Sceptrum is optimized to use less than 1% CPU and approximately 60 MB RAM, making it suitable for low-end machines and always-on monitoring without noticeable slowdown.

Drop

Not a fit when

  • User needs full antivirus or malware protection—Sceptrum detects suspicious behavior but is not a complete antivirus solution
  • User runs non-Windows operating systems—Sceptrum is Windows-only (Windows 10 21H2 or later)
  • User requires cloud-based activity logging and remote access—Sceptrum keeps all data local by design with no mandatory cloud sync
  • User needs real-time threat response across multiple devices from a central dashboard—each installation is independent and local
  • User cannot grant administrator access during installation—Sceptrum requires admin privileges to monitor system-level access
