Running Form Analysis App

Upload a short side-view clip, get actionable form feedback

Overview

What it is

StrideIQ help runners sanity-check their form from a short side-view video. Upload a 10–20s clip and it highlights a few common issues It’s meant to be a quick “is this roughly what I think it is?” tool — not a replacement for a coach. Works best with a steady, side-view clip at an easy-to-tempo pace. Privacy note: the current version runs in the browser; your video stays on your device. Intent

I need it when

Test running form analysis workflow before committing to paid software

MVP product provides free access to core form analysis features with both Lite (faster) and Full (higher accuracy) model options, allowing users to validate the product flow

Analyze running form without uploading videos to external servers

All processing runs locally in the browser with zero server or storage involvement, ensuring complete privacy and no data transmission

Extract quantified running metrics from video for tracking progress

App detects contact frames and calculates key metrics with median estimates, and exports results as JSON for personal tracking or integration with other tools

Identify running form flaws like overstriding, knee extension issues, or trunk lean

App analyzes side-view running videos locally to detect and flag form issues including overstride, knee extension, trunk lean, foot strike pattern, and leg retraction, helping runners understand specific biomechanical problems

Get running economy recommendations based on form analysis

App generates form-based recommendations for running economy after analyzing video, enabling runners to optimize efficiency without external coaching

Drop

Not a fit when

  • User needs real-time coaching during a run rather than post-run video analysis
  • User requires front or rear view analysis; app only supports side-view video
  • User has videos below 1080p resolution or below 30 fps; app requires minimum 1080p at 30 fps or 240 fps slow-motion
  • User needs cloud storage or multi-runner group analysis; app processes locally only and analyzes single runners
  • User runs on a phone and needs fast analysis; app is slow and battery-heavy on mobile devices
  • User requires professional certification or medical-grade accuracy; app is an MVP with estimated metrics using simple rules
