PairPods is a free, open-source macOS menubar app that lets you share audio between any two Bluetooth devices with a single click.
PairPods is designed with privacy-first principles; it collects no personal data or usage information. The only network activity is periodic update checks. Being open-source software released under MIT License, users can verify the code and trust that their audio sharing remains private.
PairPods enables users to connect two or more Bluetooth devices (AirPods, Samsung Buds, Sony headphones, speakers) to one Mac and stream audio to all of them at once. Users can toggle individual devices on/off, adjust per-device volume levels, and control which device acts as the master clock—perfect for watching movies or listening to music together.
PairPods displays each device's sample rate and battery level in the menubar, allowing users to select which device drives the master clock. This prevents pitch shifting and latency issues when devices operate at different sample rates, ensuring synchronized, high-quality audio across all connected devices.
PairPods operates entirely from the macOS menubar, providing a lightweight, always-accessible interface to toggle audio sharing, adjust volumes, view device status, and manage connections. The ~1.5MB download size and minimal system footprint make it ideal for users who want quick, unobtrusive control.
PairPods includes configurable auto-reconnect behavior with timeout options (Off, 5, 10, or 30 seconds), allowing users to choose how long the app waits for a disconnected device to return before resuming sharing. This ensures uninterrupted audio sessions even when devices temporarily lose connection.
