Claude in Chrome gives Claude Code full browser automation, but blocks 58 domains (banks, Tinder, Reddit, Robinhood, Bloomberg) and only works in Chrome/Edge. I reverse-engineered it from the tool schemas. Same 18 tools, same performance. No blocklist. Any Chromium browser. Open source.
The extension works on any Chromium-based browser, not just Chrome and Edge. Users can load the unpacked extension and register native messaging hosts for their preferred browser, enabling Claude Code integration across multiple browsers.
Open Claude in Chrome removes the 58-domain blocklist from the official extension, allowing Claude to navigate banking sites, investment platforms, dating apps, news paywalls, and other restricted domains. Users can automate tasks on any website using all 18 MCP tools with identical performance to the official version.
The extension runs locally with a Node.js MCP server and native messaging bridge. Users maintain full control over the environment and can deploy across multiple Claude Code sessions simultaneously, with the first session becoming the primary and others connecting as clients.
Open Claude in Chrome is MIT-licensed open-source, allowing users to review the clean-room reimplementation, audit security, and customize behavior. The codebase includes the extension, MCP server, and native messaging host—all plain JavaScript with no build step required.
