GitBar

GitBar

Every pull request, one menubar. GitHub, GitLab & Azure

Overview

What it is

GitBar is the macOS menubar app for pull requests. Connect GitHub, GitLab (cloud or self-hosted), and Azure DevOps across any number of accounts, and every PR you care about is one click away. See what's yours, what's waiting on your review, and what's happening across your team. Status badges show approved, draft, conflicts, and checks at a glance. A live PR count lives in your menubar. Built with React Native for macOS. Free on the Mac App Store.

Intent

I need it when

Monitor pull request status without switching between browser tabs or applications

GitBar displays all pull requests from GitHub, GitLab, and Azure DevOps directly in the macOS menubar with at-a-glance status badges showing approval state, CI/pipeline status, merge conflicts, and draft status. This eliminates context switching and keeps developers informed of PR readiness without leaving their current work.

Quickly identify which pull requests need immediate attention or action

GitBar organizes PRs into three tabs (Mine, Review, All) with customizable filters and color-coded reviewer avatars showing approval, pending, and change-request states. Developers can hide irrelevant PRs and focus only on actionable items, reducing cognitive load when managing multiple PRs.

Track GitHub issues alongside pull requests in a unified view

GitBar displays GitHub issues you created or issues on projects you work on within the same menubar interface as pull requests, providing a complete overview of development work without switching between tools.

Stay informed about pull request activity and changes in real-time

GitBar sends notifications when new PRs are opened or comments are added to tracked pull requests, and can launch automatically at login. This ensures developers never miss important PR updates while working on other tasks.

Manage pull requests across multiple Git platforms from a single interface

GitBar supports GitHub, GitLab, and Azure DevOps simultaneously, allowing developers to add multiple accounts across different providers and view all PRs and issues in one consolidated menubar interface.

Drop

Not a fit when

  • User works exclusively on Windows or Linux systems, as GitBar is macOS-only (requires macOS 14.0 or later)
  • User manages pull requests only on platforms other than GitHub, GitLab, or Azure DevOps
  • User prefers web-based or browser-integrated PR management tools over native desktop applications
  • User needs to manage issues and PRs from Bitbucket, Gitea, or other unsupported version control platforms
  • User requires advanced PR automation, custom workflows, or team collaboration features beyond status tracking and notifications
